About the Role

This professional sales position is responsible for closing district category penetration opportunities and growing new business within categories, aiming to achieve assigned business goals while enhancing the customer experience through industry certification and direct selling.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute targeted category sales strategies to achieve district and individual annual business goals, delivering profitable sales growth and penetration across categories, specialty segments, and Sysco brand.
  • Provide customer solutions from our defined category assortment, prioritizing Sysco brand/Sourced and relevant Sysco specialty company offerings.
  • Utilize data analytics to prioritize category opportunities.
  • Actively seek, qualify, and action top penetration opportunities.
  • Stay informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales, sharing information with customers as value-added services.
  • Track activities and results, collaborate on opportunities, and champion the team selling process using Salesforce (Sysco’s CRM tool).
  • Leverage sampling in a solutions-oriented manner to close sales.
  • Provide feedback to specialty companies and merchandising on product quality, integrity, mix, customer satisfaction, perceived value, and competition.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, chefs, and Sysco team members.
  • Support execution of prioritized sales strategies through direct selling and engagement of customers and prospects at Sysco events.
  • Follow-up on all communications and commitments resulting from customer meetings.
  • Execute all 360 category opportunities to the specified closed won ratio.
  • Comply with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality, and legality requirements are met.
  • Work safely with minimal environmental impact and report all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately.
  • Understand the integral role in personal and colleague safety and speak out when hazards are present.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3 years or more experience in a Sales or Marketing role.
  • Completion of post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing with access to a vehicle is required.
  • Demonstrate a high level of business acumen and interpersonal savvy.

Skills

  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • CPSA designation is preferred
