About the Role
MSD, a leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals, equipment, and software for the PCB, semiconductor, and connector industries, offers you the chance to complete a highly relevant mandatory internship that is directly anchored in your study regulations. We are looking for curious, eager-to-learn students who want to work in the wet chemical laboratory and enjoy working with inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry as well as material sciences. In your internship, you will support our project team in developing an electroless copper process for ultra-thin copper layers – a crucial building block for the next generation of high-tech devices. Ultra-thin copper layers enable smartphones, tablets, and wearables to become even faster, more powerful, slimmer, and lighter. So you will be working on technologies that you hold in your hands every day – and actively shaping their future.
Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory experiments and tasks in consultation with your supervisor
- Prepare test substrates for chemical copper plating
- Produce and chemically analyze process baths
- Evaluate the deposited copper layers using wet chemical and physical methods
- Carefully document your results
- Present your results in team meetings
- Support troubleshooting and process optimization
Requirements
- Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
- The internship is a mandatory part of your study regulations (no voluntary internships)
- Initial experience in a wet chemical laboratory
- Basic knowledge of spectroscopy, gravimetry, titrimetry, and the chemistry of transition metals
- Willingness to handle hazardous substances
- Ability to plan, conduct, and evaluate experiments and data
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Proactive, structured, and team-oriented way of working
- Good English skills; other languages are a plus
- High motivation to learn new things and participate in relevant industrial projects
