About the Role
We are seeking an Associate Publisher to manage and strategically develop a portfolio of open access journals within the microbiology and oncology sectors. This role involves liaising with internal teams, external Editors, and the scientific community to ensure the success of individual journals.
Responsibilities
- Drive portfolio development and management to achieve results and demonstrate accountability.
- Foster growth and development of open access journals through strategic planning and business development.
- Manage annual targets for journal submissions, publications, and transfer volumes, as well as turnaround times.
- Deliver exceptional author experiences and encourage engagement from Editors-in-Chief, Editorial Board Members, and Societies.
- Demonstrate resilience and adaptability in a dynamic environment, managing changing priorities and challenges.
- Resolve pre- and post-publication issues related to authorship, scope, ethics, misconduct, and policies.
- Utilize data analytics for informed decision-making and strategic planning.
- Manage contract negotiations using financial statements and forecasting.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, researchers, and external Editors, balancing stakeholder needs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the research community and publishing industry trends.
Requirements
- Educated to bachelor’s degree level or equivalent, preferably in life, biomedical, or health sciences.
- Resourceful and proactive problem-solving abilities with a quick adaptation to change.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written).
- Persuasion and influencing skills, demonstrating diplomacy and assertiveness.
- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues at all levels and as part of a team.
- Ability to work independently and on own initiative.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with academic and industry researchers.
- Strong technical skills with a keen attention to detail.
