About the Role
This Engineering and Quality Group position engineers products meeting design, performance, constructability and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Engineer manufactured products that meet specific contract, performance, and quality requirements.
- Review contract plans, proposals, and specifications from governing agencies.
- Develop designs supported by engineering calculations and reports.
- Create RFIs to facilitate the design process.
- Determine special detailing requirements and communicate design information to Detailers for shop drawing development.
- Evaluate and determine the adequacy of as-built conditions for products deviating from design parameters as it relates to intended performance characteristics.
- Communicate and interact with project owners, engineers, inspectors, and contractors.
- Evaluate comments from reviewing parties for validity and adjust designs as necessary or create rebuttal arguments.
- Provide customer supervision for product installation as required by project specification.
- Undertake special projects including research and development, new product design, and testing program advancement.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in a Design Engineer role.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, techniques, and quality standards.
- Ability to interpret and communicate contract documents effectively.
- Proficiency in performing engineering calculations.
- Technical writing skills for customer correspondence.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to process adherence and quality workflows.
- Familiarity with DOT standards.
- Familiarity with ASTM material specifications.
- Experience with solid modeling software.
