About the Role
Lead a team of security and cabling technicians to complete access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related projects safely, on time, within budget, and to high quality standards. Responsibilities include assisting with planning, managing materials, executing installations, troubleshooting, customer communication, progress reporting, quality control, and system testing.
Responsibilities
- Plan daily tasks with the Project Manager and/or Superintendent.
- Conduct safety meetings with team.
- Lead, coach, train, manage, and mentor technician team.
- Install cabling, mount equipment, install card readers, door contacts, mag locks, electrified strikes, and integrated systems.
- Troubleshoot cabling, card readers, door contacts, mag locks, electrified strikes, cameras, PLC's, intrusion detection equipment, and integrated systems.
- Maintain mastery of low voltage systems, relays, principals of normally closed/normally open, series and parallel wiring.
- Maintain a general understanding of Ethernet networking.
- Master understanding of using multi-meter to test for voltage, continuity, amperage, and resistance.
- Possess mechanical and computer skills.
- Operate hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks, to include lifts.
- Document and report progress in a timely manner to Project Managers and customers.
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal form with internal staff and customers.
- Read and understand drawings and equipment schematics.
- Use available resources to troubleshoot and resolve project issues.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid TX driver’s license, successfully pass an MVR check, and maintain a clean driving record.
- At least 5 years of relevant security experience.
- At least 2 years of relevant leadership experience.
- Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills.
- Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking.
- Currently licensed or must have the ability to immediately obtain TXDPS Security License.
- Familiarity with Access Control Systems (Software House, Genetec, Honeywell, HID, Mercury, LifeSafety Power).
- Familiarity with Video Surveillance/CCTV (Genetec, ipConfigure, Axis, Hanwha Techwin).
- Familiarity with Intrusion Detection (DMP, Bosch/Radionics).
- Familiarity with Structured Cabling (Panduit, Commscope).
- Ability to perform physical tasks like walking, standing, driving.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Capable of ascending and descending ladders (6–14 feet) and stairs.
- Willingness to work from a bucket truck as required.
