About the Role
We are looking for a General Ledger Accountant to strengthen our Finance team in day-to-day operations. You will combine sound HGB accounting knowledge with a passion for process optimization and experience with modern data structures and spreadsheets. In this role, you will actively support our monthly and annual financial statements, help clean up and automate manual spreadsheet workflows, and act as a liaison to the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams. You will bridge the gap between classic accounting and modern data processes to create scalable and efficient workflows.
Responsibilities
- Active support in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and HGB annual financial statements within the team.
- Participation in general ledger accounting, preparation of routine bookings (such as provisions and accruals), and performance of account reconciliations.
- Assistance in the preparation and creation of VAT returns and monitoring of relevant deadlines.
- Support in the preparation and cleanup of spreadsheets to reduce manual effort and simplify routine processes.
Requirements
- 3 years of practical experience in financial or general ledger accounting, ideally in a fast-growing company or a tax consulting firm.
- Completed business administration studies or a comparable commercial apprenticeship / qualification (e.g., tax assistant, tax specialist, balance sheet accountant).
- Good knowledge of HGB; basic knowledge of IFRS is a plus.
- Solid practical experience with Excel / Google Sheets (common formulas, pivot tables) for data preparation and structuring.
- Initial experience with modern ERP systems (ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central).
- Fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
