About the Role
The Operations Engineer is the technical execution lead for assigned projects, owning the end-to-end project journey from production planning through quality inspection to final delivery, ensuring all vehicles meet regulatory, client, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of approximately 15-20 active projects per engineer.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules, coordinating manufacturing milestones with client delivery commitments.
- Identify and address schedule risks and deviations, implementing corrective actions.
- Conduct regular project progress reviews with internal production and procurement teams.
- Coordinate project handover activities, including client acceptance inspections, delivery documentation, and post-delivery follow-up.
- Ensure all vehicles are built in full compliance with client specifications.
- Review and approve technical documentation, build specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Conduct or coordinate in-process and final quality inspections.
- Raise, manage, and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor supplier delivery performance and quality against purchase orders and project specifications.
- Coordinate third-party inspections, certifications, and factory acceptance tests.
- Escalate supplier performance issues to the Team Leader and Procurement.
- Maintain complete and accurate project records.
- Provide regular project status updates to the Senior Coordinator.
- Prepare and submit incident reports, corrective action records, and technical deviation requests.
- Support Coordinators in preparing client-facing status updates and project progress reports.
- Provide production progress reports to Sales.
- Request production plans from production to streamline processes and set deadlines.
- Collaborate with the KOM/Project Initiation Specialist to capture scope, timeline, and stakeholder requirements.
- Coordinate with the Senior Coordinator on scheduling conflicts, documentation priorities, and resource constraints.
- Participate in monthly team syncs, providing project status updates and flagging blockers.
- Support the Team Leader in preparing project data for management review presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in operations, project engineering, or manufacturing environments.
- Experience in vehicle manufacturing, fire-fighting equipment, or specialist vehicle sectors is preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS 9100 quality standards.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and PMIS documentation systems.
- Experience in supplier management and third-party inspections.
