About the Role
Trinity Consultants Canada is seeking a dedicated and diligent Intermediate Water Resources Engineer/Modeller to join their team. This role offers an opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals, grow your career through mentorship and training, and contribute to innovative solutions for complex environmental challenges.
Responsibilities
- Provide intermediate-level technical skills and leadership within the water resources group, focusing on water balance, hydrotechnical, and hydrodynamic modelling for mining projects.
- Maintain key client relationships and support business growth through successful project delivery across Canada.
- Offer water resources engineering/modelling support for water management studies in mining projects, from exploration through closure.
- Develop and execute site-wide and receiver water balance models using industry-standard software like GoldSim and HEC-HMS.
- Develop and execute 2D and 3D hydrodynamic models for contaminant dispersion and mixing zones using software such as CORMIX and Delft3D.
- Perform hydrotechnical calculations for hydraulic structures (culverts, weirs, flumes, open-channels) using software like HY-8 and HEC-RAS.
- Prepare technical reports and memos, and present findings to clients, regulators, Indigenous groups, and stakeholders.
- Support permitting and regulatory documentation and submissions.
- Contribute to proposal preparation, scope development, and budgeting.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary technical teams within the business unit.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering (or equivalent).
- Eng. or EIT designation, or eligibility for registration with PEO.
- 3+ years of consulting experience in water resource engineering/modelling within the mining sector.
- Demonstrated experience with water balance modelling (using GoldSim) and hydrodynamic modelling (using CORMIX) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of hydrological processes in temperate climates, hydrodynamics and mixing processes, and hydraulics.
- Working knowledge of engineering hydrology, rating curve development, water quality modelling, and storm/urban drainage analysis is an asset.
- Experience with GIS, AutoCAD/Civil3D, and other supporting tools is an asset.
- Effective analytical and technical writing skills with the ability to produce high-quality reports and proposals.
- Experience supporting permitting and regulatory processes in the mining sector.
- Experience with writing proposals, work scopes, and cost estimates.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and excellence.
- Effective and demonstrated communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, well-organized, motivated, and self-managed.
