About the Role
Brookfield Renewable North America is seeking a Director, Business Development to identify, underwrite, and execute renewable power investment opportunities. This role involves developing strategic growth initiatives, overseeing financial modeling, and facilitating capital recycling. The ideal candidate thrives in a performance-driven environment that emphasizes leadership and accountability.
Responsibilities
- Lead or support transaction execution, including due diligence, investment merits and risks identification, management meetings, transaction documentation review, and coordination with third-party consultants.
- Allocate business development and transaction mandates to team members, review work product, and provide performance feedback.
- Monitor existing portfolio assets and develop/implement value-enhancing business plan initiatives, including strategic forecasting, capital allocation analysis, and asset-level performance reviews.
- Conduct valuations of renewable power assets and companies using methods like comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, and DCF.
- Oversee and manage the construction, review, and maintenance of detailed financial models for transaction evaluation, underwriting support, and strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams for due diligence and liaise with external stakeholders for investment opportunity evaluation.
- Develop detailed business plans and investment materials to support senior management decisions on strategic initiatives, growth opportunities, and capital recycling.
- Assist in developing transaction and deal structure ideas, perform industry research, and evaluate new market segments and opportunities.
- Create presentation materials and present to senior management, Board, and investment committees.
- Manage special projects as required.
Requirements
- University degree in a quantitative field such as finance, business, economics, or accounting with high academic standing.
- 7+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in renewable power, infrastructure, private equity, investment banking, project finance, transaction services, or corporate development.
- Experience conducting research and due diligence, evaluating transaction opportunities, performing financial and valuation analysis, and producing investment materials for senior management.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of financial models.
- Proficiency with PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office tools.
- Professional with a positive attitude, strong ownership mindset, and demonstrated ability to contribute to a dynamic, collaborative, and team-oriented culture.
