About the Role

Lucid Computing, in partnership with the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE), is building and operating an adversarial testbed for developing and red-teaming AI compute verification solutions. The network is where AI verification becomes real, and the premise is that verification claims are only as good as the adversarial attacks they can withstand. Your role will involve inventing and hardening network device designs and security protocols to ensure trustworthiness even when the operator is the adversary.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to threat models for AI compute verification solutions.
  • Propose new security protocols and device designs for network verification.
  • Defend proposed designs in design reviews.
  • Harden and remediate network devices and code based on red team findings.
  • Collaborate with hardware/FPGA engineers, security engineers, and verification researchers.
  • Shape open, published reference architectures for AI verification.

Requirements

  • Production software development experience for network devices (switches, routers, NICs, load balancers, firewalls, taps/packet brokers) or network-focused software for large-scale network applications.
  • Hands-on network security experience, including secure device design, hardened network protocols, traffic analysis, anomaly detection, DDoS mitigation, network access control, or security-focused code/design review.
  • Strong networking fundamentals (L2-L4 protocols, routing, switching, topologies, load balancing, QoS, performance characteristics).
  • Strong systems programming skills in C, C++, Rust, or Go.
  • Deep familiarity with the Linux networking stack.
  • Proven track record of building robust, reliable software at scale.
  • Creative, outside-the-box thinking and ability to reason about adversaries.
  • Ability to originate and defend novel protocol and device designs.
  • Ability to revise designs honestly when challenged.
  • Effective collaboration in a small, fast-moving team.
  • Clear written communication of designs.
