About the Role
Atkore is searching for a Material Handler to be based out of Binghamton, NY. This role is responsible for packaging product, monitoring product for defects, assisting in product startup or changeover, and maintaining a safe and clean work area.
Responsibilities
- Confirm product with schedule
- Assist with Quality Control duties including Monitor saw cuts, Pipe length, Bell fit, Print line confirmation, Chamfer/Bevel, and Reference line spacing
- Package finished pipe in proper crate quantities
- Weigh and transport finished product
- Cut crate boards to proper lengths and adjust if needed
- Process re-grind / scrap pipe
- Assist with the running of the PVC extrusion lines
- Help with changeovers and stringing the line downstream and through the saw
- Understand how to get pipe into specification
- Able to identify pipe products that are out of specification
- Perform maintenance and cleanup for production and storage areas
- Able to prioritize tasks effectively to manage time in order to be proficient with all material handling and packaging devices
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

Requirements
- Equivalent experience and able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
- 1-2 years related experience preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Good understanding of basic math required for quick and accurate counting and calculations
- Attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization
- Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner
- Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced work environment
- Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
- Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus
