About the Role

As a key member of the logistics team, you will manage global project logistics and handle in-house customs clearance and export control. You will serve as the main point of contact for customs authorities, freight forwarders, and international partners, ensuring the secure, timely, and compliant delivery of sensitive space hardware.

Responsibilities

In-house customs clearance (ATLAS): Independently create, submit, and monitor import and export declarations in the ATLAS system as a self-declarant, without external customs service providers.
Export control & permit management: Independently apply for export permits, zero permits, and collective export permits via the BAFA's ELAN-K2 portal.
Goods tariffing & classification: Accurately classify diverse goods into the customs tariff (HS codes), ranging from complex space hardware and test equipment to standard consumables. Verify for Dual-Use characteristics according to current foreign trade law.
Handling of temporary traffic: Organize temporary exports and imports (e.g., for test campaigns in the USA or Japan) using standard customs procedures.
Global project logistics management: Organize and monitor worldwide (special) transports (air and sea freight), considering specific requirements like vibration protection, temperature specifications, or cleanroom conditions.
Stakeholder & authority management: Direct communication and relationship management with German customs, BAFA, international authorities, and global freight forwarders and recipients (e.g., USA, UK, India, Japan).

Requirements

Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in international logistics, operational customs clearance, and export control.
Industry experience in aerospace or high-tech logistics is a plus, but not mandatory; deep expertise in customs is key.
Proven, in-depth practical knowledge of direct ATLAS application and solid experience with the ELAN-K2 portal.
Very strong knowledge of German and European foreign trade law (AWG/AWV, EU Dual-Use Regulation).
Comprehensive knowledge of customs procedures with economic significance (e.g., temporary use/import, inward processing).
Extremely precise, fully compliance-oriented, and risk-aware working style.
Ability to remain calm and maintain an overview during time-critical launch dates or logistical bottlenecks.
