About the Role
ICES is seeking an Information Management Analyst to join our Data Quality and Information Management (DQIM) department. This role is responsible for importing and maintaining large health services data sets within a SAS/Linux environment, adhering to stringent confidentiality and security guidelines. The Analyst will convert administrative and project data into SAS datasets, perform data cleaning and validation, and document data characteristics to ensure data integrity, while demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of ICES data holdings and privacy policies.
Responsibilities
- Perform data cleaning and validation activities, documenting data characteristics according to ICES standards and guidelines.
- Collaborate with project teams to understand data requirements and implement cleaning processes that align with research objectives.
- Implement data destruction procedures following ICES data destruction policy.
- Encode direct personal identifiers as data arrives at ICES, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and data governance standards.
- Receive data collected in ICES primary data collection projects and prepare it for the ICES data environment (Linux).
- Document all encoding processes clearly to facilitate audits and ensure transparency in data handling practices.
- Develop and process SAS programs to convert administrative and study data files into SAS datasets.
- Validate the accuracy of the converted datasets by conducting thorough testing and implementing quality control measures.
- Work closely with Technology teams, Research Program Managers, and external data partners to address any data issues that arise during data processing.
- Communicate status updates and issue resolutions to all relevant interest holders.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned within the scope of this position.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, biostatistics, or related field.
- 3 years of related work experience.
- Good SAS programming skills.
- Working knowledge of principles of computer systems architecture, database design and record linkage methodology.
- Excellent understanding of the concepts of data privacy, confidentiality, and security practices.
- Familiarity with the Linux operating system for data security management practices.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated familiarity with SQL and Python programming would be an asset.
- Knowledge of and experience using administrative data in health services research would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of research data collection platforms and data management systems would be an asset.
- Security clearance may be required.
