About the Role
Lead a team of approximately 30 developers across multiple concurrent projects, setting technical direction while remaining hands-on with code and people. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys managing developers, mentoring engineers, shaping delivery, and maintaining quality across fast-paced projects. The position is based in Miami to facilitate close collaboration with the Owner/Founder & CEO.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of around 30 developers spanning several concurrent projects
- Set technical direction across platforms built from scratch, with no legacy constraints
- Run mentoring, performance and career conversations, and build a strong engineering culture
- Work closely with product and other engineering leads to keep priorities aligned across the portfolio
- Balance speed and quality, keeping delivery fast without letting standards slip
- Champion AI powered development across the team, using tools daily to build faster
Requirements
- Strong TypeScript skills across front end and back end
- Experience with Node.js on serverless architecture, ideally AWS Lambda with Express
- Solid AWS depth across Lambda, RDS, SQS, S3 and CloudWatch
- Exposure to Terraform, Kubernetes and Docker
- Comfortable with MySQL and an ORM like TypeORM, plus Redis for caching
- Experience leading or working closely with React and Next.js teams
- Proven track record leading engineering teams, ideally in a fast moving product company
- Comfortable with ambiguity and genuinely enjoys building from the ground up
- Daily use of AI development tools like Claude Code and OpenAI Codex
