About the Role
Arcadis is seeking a Scotland-based Principal/Associate Technical Director to lead environmental and consenting aspects of projects within the Environmental Planning sector. This role involves improving quality of life through expertise in environmental management, technical, or sustainability, focusing on areas like protected species, pollution, and air quality.
Responsibilities
- Lead the coordination and delivery of planning and environmental work by multi-disciplinary teams.
- Influence project development to achieve optimal environmental and planning outcomes.
- Develop new business opportunities and lead project delivery to expand the company portfolio.
- Work closely with sub-consultants.
- Raise awareness of services, secure new opportunities, and build new contacts.
- Engage in key client relationships and create cross-selling opportunities.
- Engage with consultees and stakeholders.
- Manage projects, overseeing technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety performance.
- Collaborate with existing Arcadis colleagues globally.
Requirements
- Excellent working knowledge of the environmental and consenting process, including EIA practices, procedures, and case law.
- Solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles and technical specialisms.
- Experience across a range of project types.
- Strong report writing, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary coordination and project leadership.
- Good project management and technical skills.
- Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators, and stakeholders.
- Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management, and quality assurance.
- A flexible, pragmatic, and collaborative approach to work.
