About the Role
This 6-month contract position with a local authority involves supporting the planning, design, and execution of traffic management and highway improvement projects. The role is crucial for enhancing road safety, optimizing traffic flow, and maintaining the highway network's quality in compliance with relevant standards.
Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze data from traffic, highway, and site surveys.
- Design and develop traffic management and highway improvement schemes.
- Create engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Assist in the design and implementation of parking controls, traffic regulations, and highway improvement projects.
- Contribute to the development of complex traffic and highway schemes.
- Prepare cost estimates and financial forecasts for traffic management projects.
- Issue work orders, site instructions, and technical guidance to contractors.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure work meets specifications.
- Inspect completed projects to verify quality, quantities, and materials used.
- Review contractor invoices and payment claims, providing recommendations for payment approval.
Requirements
- Experience in highways, traffic engineering, transportation, or civil engineering projects.
- Proficiency in conducting site surveys, inspections, and data collection.
- Ability to produce technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience in monitoring contractor performance and site activities.
