About the Role
Support the Risk Function in delivering its objective of safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities. This role involves developing, maintaining, and enhancing desktop procedures that underpin economic crime risk management and controls across the Business Banking division, ensuring procedural documentation aligns with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practice.
Responsibilities
- Develop strategic direction for risk, including the implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
- Manage the risk department, overseeing colleagues, performance, priorities, objectives, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Manage relationships with risk stakeholders, identifying relevant parties and maintaining the quality of external third-party services.
- Adhere to the Risk policy, standards, and frameworks, and maintain a robust control environment.
- Advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate closely with other functions/business divisions.
- Lead a team performing complex tasks, using professional knowledge and skills to deliver work impacting the business function.
- Set objectives, coach employees, appraise performance, and determine reward outcomes.

- Contribute to regulatory change initiatives and horizon scanning activities.
Requirements
- Experience within a first-line Economic Crime role, with a strong understanding of identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial crime risks across business activities and products.
- Proven experience within Financial Services, with a good understanding of Business Banking products, customer types, and associated risk considerations.
- Knowledge of UK financial crime legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice relating to Economic Crime risk management.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail when assessing risks and reviewing customer onboarding and due diligence activities.
- Experience producing high-quality written documentation, including drafting, updating, and maintaining desktop procedures, guidance, and operating standards.
- Understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and industry guidance, including JMLSG requirements and best practice.
- Experience supporting the implementation and enhancement of risk and control frameworks across the customer lifecycle.
