About the Role
Akur8 is seeking a Sales Executive to drive commercial growth across Japan and South Korea. This role involves owning the territory strategy, pipeline, partnerships, customer relationships, and revenue performance, with a focus on identifying value creation opportunities within the insurance market.
Responsibilities
- Own the Japanese and South Korean territory strategy, quota, pipeline, forecast, and sales priorities.
- Build a clear market view across key segments, including large insurers, MGAs, and Insurtechs.
- Identify the accounts and routes to market with the greatest growth potential.
- Develop strong, long-term partnerships with strategic local partners.
- Lead the full sales cycle, from opportunity creation to contract signature.
- Build relationships with C-level and senior decision-makers, and communicate Akur8’s value clearly to different stakeholders.
- Assess the performance of your territory, identify what is working and what is not, and adjust your approach accordingly.
- Work with internal teams to bring market insight back into Akur8’s product, positioning, and go-to-market priorities.
- Represent Akur8 in Japan, building awareness and credibility with relevant decision-makers.
- Take ownership of outcomes, raise challenges early, and create new approaches when the existing playbook does not fit the market.
- Engage and build strong relationships with existing clients to maximize platform usage and protect contracts.
- Lead marketing initiatives, including building marketing strategies, event organization, and content localization, with support from the HQ Marketing team.
Requirements
- At least 8+ years of B2B sales experience, ideally in enterprise software, complex SaaS, or deep-tech with clear commercial responsibility.
- Experience managing long and complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders (business sponsors, C-level executives, CTOs, IT teams, solution architects, procurement, risk, and legal).
- Proven ability to act as a new-business hunter, opening doors and building a market from the ground up.
- Ability to explore white spaces within a territory, identifying overlooked segments, accounts, use cases, and internal stakeholders.
- Experience selling contracts ranging from €100k to €300k, as well as larger enterprise deals from €1m to €1.2m.
- Ability to build a clear strategy for every major opportunity, including defined stakeholders, risks, next steps, decision criteria, and a realistic closing plan.
- Understanding of the operating discipline required to deliver against a quota, including pipeline management and qualification.
- Comfortable making accurate forecasts and updating views based on new information.
- Strong land-and-expand mindset, actively seeking cross-sell and upsell opportunities.
- Willingness to ask for internal introductions, pursue additional conversations, or challenge initial scope with a credible business case.
- Ability to build relationships across an organization and create champions.
- Ambition combined with commercial realism, understanding the account coverage, sales activity, and pipeline creation required to win major institutions.
- Comfortable discussing technical subjects and making complex concepts clear to different audiences.
- Highly autonomous with the ability to take ownership of territory while collaborating with internal teams.
- Organized, disciplined, and comfortable working with CRM systems, structured sales processes, and regular forecasting routines.
- Curious, persistent, and action-oriented, taking responsibility for outcomes and maintaining momentum.
- Possess an employment status that allows working from the Tokyo office.
