About the Role

As an Associate Director in our Indirect Tax team, you will be responsible for the scoping, delivery, and billing of client work, providing high-quality technical advice to a diverse range of clients. You will guide junior staff, support Directors and Partners, and offer technically accurate advice on Indirect Tax matters, backed by thorough knowledge of legislation and case law. The role requires strong business writing skills to explain complex technical issues to stakeholders with limited tax knowledge, producing work that requires minimal review. You will also review team members' work, ensure compliance with risk management processes, and manage financial aspects like billing and gross margin.

Responsibilities

  • Scoping, delivery, and billing of client work
  • Delivering high-quality technical advice to a diverse range of clients
  • Guiding junior staff in research and work production
  • Supporting Directors and Partners
  • Providing technically accurate advice on Indirect Tax matters
  • Producing technical work requiring minimal review
  • Reviewing the work of other team members
  • Ensuring compliance with risk management processes
  • Taking responsibility for financial hygiene including billing, gross margin, utilisation, and WIP management

Requirements

  • Experience of VAT / Indirect Taxes, potentially from an advisory or in-house environment
  • Experience of managing a large and varied portfolio of indirect / VAT tax clients
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to forge long-standing business relationships
  • Comfortable taking the lead and driving projects forward within a mixed discipline team
  • Experience advising on complex technical indirect tax matters across a range of VAT areas and sectors
