About the Role
BWB Consulting has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer or Transport Planner to join our growing Transport & Accessibility Planning team. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, with a desire to contribute to a growing team and develop their professional career with BWB.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Masterplans, Traffic Engineering schemes, and other technical reports.
- Collaborate with team members, other BWB departments, clients, architects, and planners throughout the project lifecycle.
- Apply appropriate technical standards such as Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Traffic Modelling Guidelines, Manual for Streets, and Local Authority Design Guides.
- Assist in preparing fee proposals and ensure projects are delivered within budget and meet KPIs.
- Support meetings, including negotiations with Local Authorities and other regulatory bodies.
- Undertake project management, contribute to project finances, and mentor junior team members.
- Engage in business development activities and contribute to the team's direction and growth.
Requirements
- Demonstrate experience in traffic engineering and transport planning for development, including analysis and assessment.
- Ability to assist senior colleagues with client and regulatory body interactions.
- Knowledge of client briefs, fee proposals, and effective project delivery.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good technical writing skills.
- Sound working competence in MS Office products (Excel and Word).
- Ability to prepare Transport Statements/Assessments, Junction or Network Improvement Studies, Impact Assessments, Travel Plans, ES Chapters, Access Studies, and other transport-related documents.
- Experience preparing AADT/AAWT flows for air/noise assessments with wider experience in technical design and master planning.
- Experience operating and interpreting industry-standard junction capacity assessment applications (e.g., Junctions 11, LinSig), preferably including network modelling.
- Experience preparing and checking scheme design drawings and figures using packages such as AutoCAD and GIS.
- Ability to work effectively in an unsupervised environment, leading work or working within a project team.
- Demonstrate management techniques including project and resource management, and mentoring of junior staff.
