About the Role
The Business Director will manage multiple clients, champion client growth, and lead teams to create effective, modern social media work. This role ensures client satisfaction and fosters profitable, long-term relationships, impacting both the agency and client businesses.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple group of clients and champion client growth.
- Lead direct reports and wider agency resources to create highly effective work.
- Ensure client satisfaction and long-term profitable relationships.
- Oversee multi-disciplinary account teams, including Social Strategy, Creative, Creator Studio, Influencer Management, Community Management, and Production.
- Lead always-on content strategies, reactive 'newsroom' content models, and planned cultural moments across platforms like Threads, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of clients' business, KPIs, competitors, and trends.
- Ensure the optimum brief is achieved for the agency.
- Uphold best practice client servicing skills to drive high client satisfaction.
- Build a fun internal culture.
- Develop client relationships inclusively, involving senior management and other disciplines.
- Create client satisfaction and trust to maximize client potential.
- Adapt agency processes/team models to service client needs.
- Conduct regular client health checks.
- Share regular thought-leadership to demonstrate ongoing strategic thinking.
- Develop social-first creative work that populates culture and is of high quality.
- Challenge the client to ensure the best possible briefs and add commercial value.
- Ensure the creation of effective briefing documents and oversee important briefs.
- Apply social, creator, and platform knowledge to inform marketing strategy and creative output.
- Work closely with data and social listening teams to ensure engagement strategies are data-informed.
- Contribute to insightful briefs and communicate compelling strategic arguments.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of target audiences and key market insights.
- Act as a Customer Engagement (CE) and Social champion across partnership clients.
- Oversee continual optimization of output and ensure results and native platform analytics are acted upon.
- Provide inspiring leadership and foster a strong team culture.
- Create an effective team structure with the right skill sets and capabilities.
- Manage recruitment, performance, talent development, training, and succession planning.
- Empower the team to focus on client growth and management.
- Ensure the account and team work is fun and acknowledge team achievements.
- Maintain awareness of the commercial impact of recommendations.
- Instill and uphold rigorous budgeting, scoping, agency fees, resource recoverability, and revenue forecasting.
- Manage resource requirements to optimize account recoverability and balance team burn rates.
- Apply strong negotiating skills to secure appropriate budgets, scope boundaries, and timescales.
- Undertake annual and quarterly client budgeting and forecasting.
- Make informed forecasts of future revenues.
- Optimize team resources to client activity and revenue, considering career development.
- Collaborate with other account teams to manage client activity peaks and troughs.
- Create and manage approval of business cases for recruitment.
- Foster strong commercial rigor within the team to meet commercial targets.
- Support new business opportunities, including case study development, RFI submissions, credentials presentations, and leading pitches.
Requirements
- Typically 8+ years of experience within a social media, community management, or customer engagement leadership role, either client or agency side.
- Proven track record in senior client management, consultative selling, and expanding revenue across large-scale accounts.
- Fully versed in the strategic use of Threads, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging channels for both organic and paid social strategies.
- Experience or deep familiarity with enterprise tools such as Sprinklr, Sprout Social, Meltwater (social listening), CreatorIQ (influencer management), and AI tools (Adobe Firefly, Gemini).
- In-depth understanding of how social media metrics and ROI are analysed and reported upon to determine strategic success.
- Confident presenter, autonomous worker, and skilled commercial negotiator.
- Thorough understanding of creator economies, community management, influencer contracting/management, and navigating legal/policy guidelines for online engagement.
- Resilience to keep going in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Proactive with a can-do attitude.
- Strives for excellence, proud of work, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Friendly, approachable, personable, and able to quickly build rapport and establish excellent working relationships.

- Will be required to complete a Criminal Records Declaration regarding any unspent convictions.
- For roles in finance, HR, Legal, IT or senior management, may be required to verify declaration with a basic DBS check, as well as an Adverse Finance and ID check.
