About the Role
Join KBR as an Electrical Engineer (Platforms) to support critical Electrical Platform Systems across the DASSPO CLCM Products Being Supported (PBS). You will deliver electrical engineering services, provide expert technical guidance on sustainment activities, and address complex engineering challenges within a collaborative environment. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will advise on Electrical Platform and Product systems, contributing to the reliability, performance, and safety of mission-critical capabilities. You will also lead platform field services activities and exercise engineering delegation to deliver risk-based technical advice.
Responsibilities
- Provide Platform Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expertise and technical guidance on various platform systems for CLCM Engineering activities.
- Autonomously deliver engineering outputs for engineering changes according to the planned schedule.
- Ensure compliance with approved policy, plans, and processes, adhering to the Engineering Management Plan.
- Provide technical oversight and assurance through systems engineering, configuration control, and materiel support processes.
- Govern technical certification of systems, ensuring compliance with standards, specifications, and regulations, and assuring fitness for purpose.
- Manage systems engineering processes including requirements engineering, integration engineering, verification, validation, and test and evaluation for electrical engineering.
- Develop tasking statements for design tasks to be executed according to the planned schedule.
- Review subcontracted quotations and deliverables for best practices, value for money, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to develop requirements and solutions within Engineering Change Management, Configuration management, Systems Safety, and Certification contexts.
- Review engineering design task deliverables and conduct associated technical Design Reviews.
- Conduct technical risk assessments within the limits of engineering delegation.
- Endorse engineering recommendations to the DASSPO Principal Engineer (PE) as a SQEP.
- Work within the Navy Seaworthiness framework and the DASSPO Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO).
- Verify new Request for Problem Resolution (RPR) against the approved Requirements baseline, Certification Basis, and Safety Case on the PBS.
- Manage assigned Request for Variations (RFV) to achieve Return to Standard (RTS), Make Permanent, or cancellation before expiry.
- Formulate solutions to problems by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, making minor adaptations and modifications.
- Perform work involving conventional engineering practice, potentially including complex features like conflicting design requirements, systems integration, unsuitable materials, and difficult coordination.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering, or equivalent, qualification in a recognised electrical Engineering related discipline.
- Experience with Requirements Development, Design Review, and Acceptance within a regulated technical framework (e.g., Department of Defence).
- Hold, or be eligible for, membership of a recognised professional body and registration as Chartered Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years related experience.
- Must be eligible for ITAR clearance of relevant ship systems.
- Experience in a Department of Defence design delivery (Desired).
- Experience in marine design or maintenance (Desired).
- Must hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
- Only candidates holding a Baseline Clearance or above should apply.
