About the Role

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We support all AWS data centers and their associated equipment, working on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain. You will join a diverse team and collaborate across AWS to deliver high standards for safety and security while providing infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost. Responsibilities

Lead design projects in operational data centers to remediate issues, upgrade infrastructure, or add new services.
Serve as the primary engineering resource for design projects, providing lifecycle support from design through implementation.
Own the design for existing data center upgrades and solutions that add infrastructure, capacity, improve availability, and/or increase sustainability.
Prepare and review short circuit coordination studies and maintain software models to reflect as-built site conditions.
Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for Data Centers in your region.
Interface with internal and external data center design engineering teams, server hardware, environmental health and safety, field engineering, and controls engineering to promote standards.
Work on concurrent projects, potentially across multiple geographical regions.
Act as a technical subject matter expert for your discipline during new remediation projects.
Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover.
Prioritize activities to support data center safety, remediation projects, capacity, and availability, focusing on impactful actions.

Requirements

Possess strong engineering judgment and ability to provide design and recommendations despite uncertainty.
Be detail and data-oriented with familiarity with design/construction processes.
Have experience managing engineering projects and engineering consultants.
Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Commissioning, Construction and Design).
Manage design and as-built drawings and documents.
Prepare and present progress reports to all relevant stakeholders.
Be inclined to get into the field to see things up close.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience as a resident engineer or hands-on design consultant.
8+ cumulative years of design experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation, oil / gas facilities.
Experience with the design consultant or operation/maintenance or resident design engineer or hands-on (in the field) design consultant of mission critical facilities, especially data centers.
