About the Role
You'll own the product surface of Sauna, the interfaces people use to hand work to it, watch it happen, trust the result, and come back tomorrow. This is a product role with a frontend center of gravity, requiring you to follow problems from interaction design to client architecture, API routes, database migrations, and analytics.
Responsibilities
- Own the product surface of Sauna.
- Follow problems from interaction design to client architecture, API routes, database migrations, and analytics.
- Take an idea and turn it into reality: start from a rough direction or a Slack thread, sketch the interaction, ship a first version, and sharpen it from feedback.
- Work on delegation primitives: handing work to Sauna, following progress, interrupting, approving, and undoing.
- Work on memory made visible: surfaces where users see what Sauna has learned, correct it, and watch it sharpen.
- Work on routines and apps: surfaces where users ask for real software, install it, and monitor it.
- Work on connected Saunas: shared sessions where several people and one Sauna work in the same thread.
- Work on 'One Sauna, every surface': ensuring the same assistant, memory, and identity across web app, iMessage, Slack, email, and Superhuman.
- Work on performance as a feature: implementing a local-first client for instant opening.
- Work on first-time experience and billing: the funnel from landing page to trial to paying team.
Requirements
- Shipped complex web products and owned them after launch.
- Experience with multiplayer experiences, large-data apps with real fetching and caching strategy, streaming or realtime UIs.
- Product taste and the ability to act on it.
- Deep knowledge of React: state management, context vs. store, re-renders, and writing reusable components.
- Comfortable owning a full-stack feature end to end: migration, route, fetch, UI, analytics.
- Care about performance and can explain caching, invalidation, and optimistic-update choices.
- Care about craft: loading states, empty states, error copy, keyboard shortcuts.
- Heavy use of AI in workflow and opinions on its application.
- Autonomous and low ego.
- Focus on owning things fully rather than touching many.
- Demonstrate trajectory over tenure.
- US work authorization required; open to O-1 or J-1 visa sponsorship for exceptional candidates.
