About the Role

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a versatile Robotics Lab Technician to manage prototype lab operations. This role involves precision assembly, electrical integration, system bring-up, and testing to transform robotic kits into validated systems. The ideal candidate will bridge hardware and software, troubleshoot integration issues, and collaborate effectively with engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Assemble electromechanical robotic systems and subsystems from drawings, schematics, and work instructions, adhering to specifications.
Kit parts, stage hardware, and set up assembly jigs for builds.
Build first articles, provide feedback to engineering, and execute rework and engineering change orders.
Fabricate, route, and terminate wiring harnesses for moving assemblies.
Perform pre-power-on electrical verification and board-level integration under ESD discipline.
Maintain build records, travelers, inspection checklists, and non-conformance reports for traceability.
Redline and improve work instructions with each build.
Bring up newly built assemblies, verify component function, and run acceptance testing.
Install, configure, and run test software on robots using git and the Linux command line.
Track software versions across the fleet.
Read logs and source code to localize problems and provide triage reports.
Collaborate with engineering to isolate integration issues and drive corrective actions.
Maintain lab safety, organization, and ESD compliance.
Track tooling, consumables, and inventory.
Drive continuous improvement by developing SOPs, assembly aids, and training materials.

Requirements

3-5+ years of hands-on experience assembling and testing electromechanical systems in a lab, prototype, or manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and work instructions.
Proficient with hand and torque tools, basic crimping and soldering, and handling small fasteners and connectors.
Demonstrated ability to perform functional and acceptance testing using standard test equipment.
Experience performing quality inspections and maintaining detailed build records.
Comfortable at a Linux command line running scripts.
Knowledge of ESD handling procedures and lab safety protocols.
Clear communication, careful record-keeping, and safe work habits.
