About the Role
This is a hands-on role for an Accounting Intern to gain practical experience in core accounting functions. You will support month-end close, ensure book accuracy, and learn about accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and reporting in a fast-growing company. The role involves working with journal entries, reconciliations, and utilizing AI tools for automation and process enhancement.
Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end close tasks, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Help reconcile bank accounts, credit card activity, and intercompany transactions.
- Use AI tools to streamline manual, repetitive accounting tasks and help automate reconciliations.
- Help develop and enhance our monthly reporting processes, making them faster and more reliable.
- Assist with fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules.
- Help prepare supporting schedules for audits and tax filings.
- Maintain organized, accurate documentation for accounting processes and controls.
- Assist with ad hoc analysis and projects as the accounting team needs.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Foundational understanding of accounting principles (debits and credits, basic GAAP concepts) from coursework.
- Strong attention to detail and a low tolerance for numbers that don't tie out.
- Comfort working in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets).
- Curiosity about using AI and automation to make manual accounting work faster and more reliable.
- Eagerness to learn how a real accounting close runs, end to end.
- Ability to communicate clearly and ask good questions.
- NetSuite or other ERP experience is a plus, but not required.
