About the Role

The Customer Development Manager is responsible for the functional management, leadership, and execution of all sales related activities for the NHSc Holistic Health portfolio at key accounts, including C&S and ADUSA banners. The individual will work closely with internal strategy, category management, finance, and functional support teams to identify and develop business opportunities that will advance our partnership and industry leadership with assigned customers. Specific accountability will include hitting annual financial targets, building impactful relationships with customers and across NHSc.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic and winning relationships throughout assigned customers.
  • Focus on exceeding performance goals via off-shelf display, distribution gains, ACV enhancement, etc.
  • Establish strong working relationships with internal teams including Customer Strategy, Finance, and Customer Service.
  • Gain a detailed understanding of the customer’s go-to-market model including Category Management strategy.
  • Execute brand and category growth strategies that align with the customer.
  • Identify new opportunities for growth; develop and implement strategic growth plans aligned with corporate goals.
  • Educate business partners on products, retail goals, and measurement of success.
  • Deliver customer presentations demonstrating innovation, shelf positioning, promotions, and pricing.
  • Manage daily business in partnership with customers, including UPC product/item setup, maintenance, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Manage Trade budget and monitor spending efficiency for strong ROI and GTN efficiencies.
  • Manage Trade Investment Management (Osprey) system inputs, trade fund management, and direct sales forecasting and projection activities.
  • Ensure strong Trade management/budget processing and efficiency focused on ROI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years sales experience preferred; minimum 3 years managing strategic FDM customers.
  • Sales experience in the Grocery retail channel(s) is required.
  • Experience in consumer goods, health & wellness, and vitamins and supplements is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience using syndicated data to determine customer needs and establish effective pricing and promotional activities.
  • Knowledge of Project Management and experience managing projects in a complex, fast-moving environment.
  • Knowledge of relationship management and experience building initiatives with partners to deliver goals.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and multiple brands/categories.
  • High level of organizational skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and follow-up when responses are needed.
  • Deep understanding of the assigned Customer and how to develop demand creation plans.
  • Ability to utilize creativity and push beyond the obvious, comfortable going into “unchartered” territory in setting out recommendations and goals.
  • Problem solver with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Dynamic leader who can push past obstacles and overcome objections.
  • Articulate communicator who can quickly synthesize data.
