About the Role

It provides First Line risk support, challenges risk-in-change activity, strengthens control design, manages risk events and issues, and prepares risk insights for timely escalation and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead risk assessments across business processes, projects, and change initiatives, ensuring risks are identified, managed, and reported in line with risk appetite, policies, and governance requirements.
  • Partner with value streams and change teams to identify risks early, assess control impacts, and embed effective controls into new or enhanced processes, systems, and customer journeys.
  • Conduct control testing, investigate risk events and issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive remediation actions to strengthen the control environment.
  • Support business continuity, resilience testing, and CPS 230 obligations, while overseeing risk assessments and control considerations for Material Service Providers.
  • Deliver meaningful risk reporting, dashboards, and trend analysis to identify emerging risks, control weaknesses, and opportunities for proactive risk mitigation.
  • Build strong relationships across the Bank, Risk, and Change teams, providing risk education, governance support, and guidance that promotes a strong risk-aware culture.

Requirements

  • Experience in risk, audit, assurance, controls, compliance, or a related role, ideally within banking, financial services, or a regulated environment.
  • Understanding of risk management practices, including risk assessments, controls, issue management, and risk reporting.
  • Exposure to risk management systems and frameworks, with experience tracking risks, issues, controls, or actions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to partner, influence, and provide practical advice across the business.
  • A customer-focused mindset, strong organisational skills, and an interest in operational resilience and regulatory requirements, including CPS 230.
  • Ability to adapt from BAU to ambiguity with ease.
