About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for professional growth, while making a difference! We are now hiring various shifts for Direct Care Staff in Buffalo, NY, to provide person-centered care tailored to meet the needs of individuals at My Place Home for the Homeless.
Responsibilities
- Empower guests and provide support and crisis intervention through trauma-informed care.
- Provide resource information or triage questions for individuals and families.
- Communicate necessary guest information to day staff.
- Follow and enforce Shelter Guidelines, Policies, and Procedures.
- Support and assist guests with their shelter needs.
- Maintain safety and security of shelter property and report concerns.
- Ensure the privacy and safety of other guests.
- Maintain the cleanliness of shelter through performing housekeeping tasks.
- Complete Shelter room checks with Shelter Manager as requested.
- Complete Shelter Inventory and organizational/shelter upkeep duties.
- Perform basic maintenance and report major maintenance issues.
- Document in shift notes at least once per shift and complete proper documentation.
- Utilize the Sling schedule App for staff work schedules and manage shifts.
- Complete shadowing tasks as assigned for new team members.
- Attend regularly scheduled monthly meetings and trainings.
- Maintain positive, supportive and respectful guest relations.
- Support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion by refraining from judgment and derogatory terms.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Experience working in the mental health field or with disabled people.
- First aid and CPR training is a MUST.
- Friendly, professional demeanor.
- Strong emotional intelligence and listening skills.
