About the Role
Overheard Dating is seeking a freelance Content Creator to produce engaging dating and relationships content. This role involves ideating, writing, producing, and publishing content that reflects the brand's unique voice, focusing on the humor and challenges of modern dating across various formats like written editorial and short-form video.
Responsibilities
- Publish original, on-voice dating content on a consistent schedule.
- Write sharp, witty, brand-aligned captions, headlines, copy, and scripts in the Overheard voice.
- Ensure content is platform-native and culturally relevant to dating app behavior and modern dating discourse.
- Shoot, edit, and package short-form videos using an iPhone or consumer-grade equipment.
- Maintain a nimble, social-first production style.
- Bring fresh ideas for editorial posts, video franchises, and comedic formats rooted in dating culture.
- Uphold Overheard's tone, POV, aesthetics, and writing style across all assets.
- Stay updated on internet culture, trending humor, and dating app conversations.
- Partner with Creative, Social, and Editorial teams to support launches and content experiments.
- Maintain high editorial standards for accuracy, clarity, and comedic alignment.
- Stay organized across a fast-moving content pipeline and deliver on deadlines.
- Contribute to evolving best practices and creative playbooks.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in editorial, social content creation, media, publishing, entertainment, or a similar creative field.
- Exceptional writing skills with a comedic sensibility, able to nail Overheard's specific voice.
- Deep familiarity with dating culture, dating apps, modern relationship dynamics, and online conversations about them.
- Proven ability to ideate and execute social-first content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other emerging platforms.
- Comfortable shooting and editing video on iPhone or consumer-grade equipment.
- Strong understanding of meme culture and internet trends.
- Highly organized, able to manage multiple content streams and hit deadlines independently.
- Collaborative and communicative, excited to pitch, brainstorm, and build new formats.
