The Chief of Staff to the Deputy Executive Director serves as a strategic partner and operational lead, supporting the coordination, execution, and alignment of organizational priorities across multiple programs and departments. Responsibilities

  • Prioritize, plan, and advance key initiatives alongside the Deputy Executive Director.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the Deputy Executive Director on organizational priorities.
  • Support the planning and execution of strategic goals.
  • Track project progress and ensure timely follow-up across departments.
  • Align SQPA programs, focusing on enhancing coordination and communication within COMPASS/SONYC and Adult Literacy departments.
  • Monitor program updates, performance metrics, and reporting timelines.
  • Assist in preparing materials for site visits, audits, and external meetings.
  • Develop and maintain trackers for organizational priorities, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate cross-functional projects and ensure efficient task completion.
  • Follow up with Program Directors and leadership on outstanding items for the Deputy Executive Director.
  • Support the implementation of systems to improve workflow and accountability.
  • Draft internal and external communications on behalf of the Deputy Executive Director.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, talking points, and summaries in collaboration with the Deputy Executive Director.
  • Support the coordination of leadership meetings, including preparation and follow-up.
  • Assist with managing the Deputy Executive Director’s priorities, calendar, and meeting preparation.
  • Support onboarding and coordination of leadership-level staff.
  • Organize and maintain key documents, reports, and shared resources.
  • Provide support during high-priority periods, including program launches, events, and reporting deadlines.

Requirements

  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of New York State Central Registry (SCR), Staff Exclusion List (SEL), and criminal background check.
  • Fingerprinting through the Department of Health must be completed prior to hire.
  • Staff must maintain clearance eligibility in compliance with DYCD and DOH regulations throughout employment.
