About the Role
L3Harris is seeking a dynamic Project Engineer leader for a range of software and hardware development, assembly, integration, and test efforts. The candidate will be part of a larger program team, dedicated to meeting customer technical, cost, and schedule needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of Space System project teams to meet customer requirements within allocated cost and schedule.
- Develop, oversee, and coordinate the cost/schedule/technical aspects of ongoing engineering projects within program guidelines.
- Review engineering project status and budgets, manage schedules, and prepare status reports.
- Assess engineering issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals.
- Identify, track, mitigate, manage, and disposition program-level risks and opportunities.
- Estimate resource and material needs for projects/products.
- Coordinate interdependencies within specific projects and with the greater Space Enterprise.
- Provide coordination between project teams and resource managers/supervisors to ensure necessary reviews and approvals are received.
- Participate in small teams and perform a wide variety of tasks.
- Work closely with the product manager to identify project risk and with the Chief System Engineer to ensure risk management mitigation strategies and events are planned and executed correctly.
- Use Earned Value (EV) to guide project success.
- Support proposals for new work in a growing business.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and minimum 6 years of prior related experience, or minimum 13 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to obtain a federal security clearance.
Skills
- Control Account Manager (CAM) experience or equivalent fiscal responsibility.
- Experience with optical payload, space vehicle integration and testing.
- Experience integrating and testing complex optical/mechanical/electrical systems.
- Experience in integration of hardware & software systems.
- Experience in electrical system end-to-end test.
- Experience in space vehicle level integration & test.
- Ability to work closely with Customers, Business Development, and all functional disciplines.
- Experience leading Government contract development programs.
- Proven track record with long term planning and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Government contracting practices and Earned Value Management (EVMS).
- Ability to develop broad, cooperative relationships with numerous groups and individuals, even when having no direct authority.
- Experience with creating and managing schedules.
- Experience with executing contract scope on Firm Fixed Price contracts.
- Ability to lead program milestone/gate reviews (SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, FCA/PCA, PSR).
- Experience with project management aspects of technology development programs.
- Experience with estimating and managing labor, material, and/or subcontract costs.
- Fast learner able to adjust to project needs and learn new skills quickly.
