About the Role
As a Software Engineer on the core engineering team, you will build and ship the chain and provider software that powers the marketplace. This involves hands-on work across the Akash node and provider, including writing Go, testing network upgrades, resolving Kubernetes issues, and defining new protocol capabilities. Clear technical documentation is essential, and the role also contributes to closed-source Overclock Labs efforts.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain core features in Go across the Akash node and provider daemon
- Design, test, and ship network upgrades, validating behavior on testnet before mainnet rollout
- Diagnose and resolve provider-side issues in Kubernetes, including gateway, networking, and workload orchestration
- Maintain gRPC and protobuf API definitions and code generation
- Cut, sign, and release provider and node software
- Write feature specs and technical documentation
- Contribute to closed source Overclock Labs products such as Akash Homenode
- Develop creative solutions for attack vectors and failure handling
- Raise the standard of engineering excellence through best practices
Requirements
- Strong, current experience writing Go in production
- Hands-on Kubernetes experience, including debugging real workloads, networking, and cluster issues
- Expert knowledge of systems design concepts and distributed computing
- Keen eye for modeling scenarios in reproducible test environments
- Experience in key security concepts: cryptography, key/certificate management, identity, and access management
- Experience with test-driven development and testing frameworks
- Experience developing backend APIs and complex services
- Ability to write clear technical documentation for engineers and provider operators
- Pragmatic approach to developing clean solutions to complex problems
- Proven ability to work in an open source Git workflow
- Ability to stay communicative while working remotely and asynchronously
