About the Role
General Atlantic is seeking a professional to drive the valuation strategy and process across a global portfolio of over 300 companies. This role involves leading the global valuation function, overseeing internal teams and external providers, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Responsibilities
- Drive the valuation strategy and process across a global portfolio of 300+ companies, leading and managing the global valuation function.
- Oversee internal teams and external valuation providers.
- Compile, review, and analyze financial data to perform comprehensive valuation modeling.
- Provide senior-level review and approval of valuation outputs.
- Evaluate and analyze portfolio valuation and performance results.
- Forecast business financials and prepare key financial performance metrics and analytics reports.
- Present insights to senior leadership and valuation committees.
- Set independent pricing and fair value adjustment policies across global strategies and asset classes.
- Enhance firm-wide valuation governance frameworks to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Highlight risk concentrations and assess implications from a risk/return perspective.
- Provide independent oversight on valuation assumptions and conclusions.
- Advise senior stakeholders on valuation implications for portfolio monitoring and exit planning.
- Drive efficiencies by assessing technology solutions and process redesign for the valuations process.
- Interface with external stakeholders, including auditors and third-party valuation firms.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (with Finance or Accounting concentration) or Finance plus 3 years of experience in the position offered or in a Vice President or Senior Vice President role at a global private equity/alternative investment firm.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (with Finance or Accounting concentration) or Finance, plus five years of progressive post-Bachelor’s experience in the position offered or in a Vice President or Senior Vice President role at a global private equity/alternative investment firm.
- Developing fair value estimates and performing quarterly valuations for debt and equity investments.
- Constructing financial models using Discounted Cash Flows, Comparable Company analysis, and Comparable Transactions methods.
- Marking and maintaining a valuation database.
- Performing valuation analysis in accordance with FASB Accounting Standard Codification 820, including Level 3 assets.
- Performing Calibration analysis in accordance with the AICPA Accounting and Valuation Guide.
- Preparing multiple-scenario exit plans to evaluate profitability and investment MOIC/IRR.
- Using sensitivity analysis, profitability and growth analysis, and trend analysis to identify and resolve potential valuation discrepancies.
