About the Role
The Receptionist/Interceptor is responsible for collecting random urine toxicology specimens and managing patient flow within the clinic by greeting and directing patients to appropriate service components.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Interceptor Desk during clinic hours.
- Collect urine specimens from patients randomly, adhering to program policy and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain systems for urine specimen collection to ensure required patient testing frequency.
- Greet and direct visitors and patients to appropriate staff offices.
- Utilize computer programs to flag patients for casework, medical, or administrative appointments.
- Prepare all necessary forms, books, labels, and ledgers for specimen collection.
- Prepare all laboratory specimens for pickup.
- Ensure availability of necessary supplies for specimen collection.
- Assist with tasks to minimize lines at the Nurse's Station.
- Answer and direct phone calls.
- Provide backup support in Medical Records as needed.
- Maintain positive working relationships with staff, clients, and visitors.
- Report incidents and provide recommendations to the Supervisor/Director regarding working conditions, procedures, or environment.
- Perform other related duties as required or directed by the Supervisor.
Requirements
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of previous work experience in a community-based health or social service setting.
- Prior AMS experience preferred.
- Knowledge of computer software programs preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm and be diplomatic.
- Good decision-making and judgment skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good verbal and written skills.
- Must possess sight, hearing, and digital senses or use prosthesis to enable essential job functions.
- Works in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
