About the Role
The Field Service & Commissioning Engineer provides technical assistance to customers for installation, startup, maintenance, repair, training, and modification of Power Quality Meters, Energy Meters, Transformer Controls, and Motorbus transfer equipment. The role focuses on EIG brand Power Quality Monitoring and Revenue metering products, as well as Beckwith brand Protection & control products.
Responsibilities
- Develop commissioning plans, review project specifications, and coordinate with project managers, contractors, and vendors.
- Perform tests, calibrations, and inspections to verify accuracy, performance, and compliance with industry standards.
- Execute commissioning activities, including load testing, data validation, and performance verification.
- Diagnose and resolve installation or commissioning issues, including meter connectivity, data read errors, and power quality anomalies.
- Prepare and maintain detailed commissioning records, test reports, and as-built documentation.
- Provide training to operations and maintenance teams on system operation, data interpretation, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements during all phases of commissioning.
- Perform installation and commissioning of power quality and energy meters at customer sites.
- Perform routine maintenance and diagnose problems with equipment.
- Assist in repairing or replacing faulty parts.
- Provide remote & on-site technical support to customers.
- Train customers in the use of EIG equipment.
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (required)
- Minimum three years of relevant experience (required)
- Good understanding of industry standard communication protocols with an emphasis on Modbus, IEC 61850, DNP and BACnet.
- Knowledge of software, integration and automation, industrial controls, PLCs, and industry SCADA practices is an asset.
- Strong understanding of the power systems, metering applications industry practices and electrical equipment being serviced.
- Knowledge and experience in power system protection & control is desirable.
- Excellent analytical skills to diagnose issues and determine the best way to fix them.
