About the Role

Underwrites credit exposure for complex and large credit relationships, actively manages a Middle Market Banking portfolio, and handles day-to-day client interaction while managing portfolio risk and adhering to regulatory guidelines. Focuses on early identification of credit problems and industry trends.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the commercial underwriting process internally and externally.
  • Underwrites, structures, and documents all prospect and client transactions.
  • Independently manages complex deals and large credit relationships.
  • Analyzes financial statements, projections, and business plans to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Recommends and models appropriate loan structures.
  • Manages assigned portfolio by monitoring performance and trends.
  • Proactively defines client credit solutions and identifies issues for remediation.
  • Responsible for risk rating integrity, annual reviews, and compliance.
  • Manages all amendments and waivers in the assigned portfolio.
  • Expands client relationships through direct client calling efforts.
  • Applies knowledge of credit policy, pricing, and structure to develop solutions.
  • Partners with Investment Banking peers to deliver complex financing solutions.
  • Maintains extensive knowledge of corporate banking, investment banking, and commercial banking solutions.
  • Articulates industry trends, economic patterns, and their implications.
  • Manages assigned Associates and Analysts, including mentoring and coaching.
  • Provides independent risk views and recommendations on clients and prospects.
  • Authors independent risk recommendations including risk rating, compliance, and underwriting.
  • Handles a large portfolio of complex/leveraged clients.
  • Takes a leadership role in activities benefiting the PM platform.
  • Delivers solid credit and underwriting analyses and risk rating recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field.
  • At least 7+ years of related training and experience in commercial credit analysis.
  • Mastery level proficiency with MS Office Desktop applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Solid written/verbal communication skills.
  • Sound credit skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize workflow and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Has successfully held similar role with commercial financial institution or like experience.
  • Industry or sub-sector expertise.
  • Mastery of Truist Bank operating systems inclusive of COMPASS and other Commercial applications (i.e. MRA, salesforce.com, nCino).
