About the Role
PSWs report to the Client Services Coordinator and are responsible for delivering high-quality personal care and support to clients in their homes, in accordance with individualized care plans and established standards of practice. This is a casual/part-time position with flexible scheduling based on client needs and staff availability.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Prepare meals and provide medication reminders
- Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and community outings as required
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Offer respite support to families
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using electronic charting systems
- Monitor and report changes in client health or environment
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive care environment
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and members of the healthcare team
Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Fluent in Mandarin is a must
- Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized Ontario program
- NACC certification required for private career college graduates
- Equivalent credentials (RPN, RN, or internationally educated healthcare professionals) will be considered
- Previous PSW or caregiving experience is an asset
- Reliable transportation (vehicle or public transit) to travel between client locations
- Access to a mobile phone and reliable internet connection
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray completed within the last 12 months
- Current CPR and First Aid certification from a recognized provider
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last 12 months
- Successful candidates must provide proof of immunization in accordance with client and organizational requirements, including: COVID-19, Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR), Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap), Polio, Varicella, Hepatitis B
