About the Role
CDM Smith is seeking a skilled engineer to lead the planning and design of water, wastewater, and environmental infrastructure projects. This role involves developing complex engineering solutions, ensuring technical excellence, and meeting client objectives. You will also be responsible for reviewing designs, performing site reviews, conducting water quality analyses, and contributing to technical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and design of water, wastewater, and environmental infrastructure projects.
- Develop engineering solutions ranging from basic to highly complex.
- Ensure technical excellence and successful delivery of client objectives.
- Review draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
- Sign off on completed designs.
- Ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
- Perform site reviews and studies to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.
- Update design requirements as necessary.
- Perform water quality analyses and modeling.
- Develop white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
- Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
- Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to client requests for proposal (RFPs).
- Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices.
- Meet with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs.
- Attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services.
- Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff.
- Mentor more junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
- Supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional engineering (P.Eng) license.
- 10 years of related experience.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Skills
- Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
- Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
- Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
