About the Role
The ACLU seeks an Associate for Nationwide Portfolio Strategy & Prospect Development to support the day-to-day operations of the Development Department. This role is crucial for building long-term donor relationships and partnerships to advance the ACLU's mission.
Responsibilities
- Manage the administration of the nationwide prospect research queue, tracking requests and ensuring timely completion.
- Respond to or escalate general questions and research requests via email or the research request form.
- Maintain a weekly call list of new major donors, adding contact information and research notes.
- Vet lists of new and upgraded mid-level and major donors to identify those with the capacity for major gifts.
- Conduct prospect and donor research using online databases, in-house data, and other references.
- Determine gift capacity ranges through independent decision-making.
- Complete qualifying research requests and prepare event bios and qualification lists.
- Format and prepare spreadsheets for upload into research databases.
- Upload files to and maintain lists of research resources on the ACLU intranet.
- Stay current regarding prospect development best practices.
- Anticipate and identify problems within defined workflows and solve them.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for Portfolio Strategy projects.
- Track internal budgets and process invoices and expenses.
- Coordinate team’s travel logistics.
- Support special projects and perform other administrative duties as assigned.
- Respond to all general questions directed to the prospect development team.
Requirements
- Foundational experience in nonprofit fundraising, database management, or prospect development.
- Strong communication skills, conveying clarity, specificity, and accuracy.
- Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders on shared projects.
- Demonstrated aptitude for planning, prioritizing, organizing, and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines.
- Skilled in executing administrative tasks with attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive donor information with integrity.
- Commitment to prospect research ethics and ACLU's strong privacy principles.
