About the Role
Braze is integrating AI into its operations, and this role leads a team of Applied AI Architects. These practitioners embed with business teams to build and deploy AI agents and workflows, improving business metrics. This is a player-coach position where you will manage the team, define the role's operational model, and oversee the portfolio of AI engagements across the company, ensuring adoption and measurable business impact.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead a team of senior, autonomous individual contributors in a novel role category.
- Define performance standards and career paths for the Architect roles.
- Own and manage the portfolio of AI engagements, prioritizing and deciding where Architects embed.
- Ensure delivery and measurement of committed business outcomes, such as sales ramp time and competitive win rate.
- Manage the engagement lifecycle, including discovery, prioritization, delivery, and monitoring.
- Maintain hands-on involvement by reviewing agent designs, specifications, and output quality.
- Partner with product teams to integrate field-proven patterns into shared infrastructure and inform platform requirements.
- Serve as the executive interface, negotiating embed agreements and representing the function's results to senior leadership.
- Document best practices and establish Braze as a reference for applied AI implementation in SaaS companies.
Requirements
- Proven leader of senior technical individual contributors with experience building and leading high-autonomy teams.
- Hands-on experience building AI agents, automations, or LLM-powered tools.
- Experience working in or alongside the commercial motion of a B2B SaaS company.
- Ability to manage competing demands, prioritize effectively, and defend decisions to executives.
- Proficiency in designing and measuring business impact for technical initiatives.
- Experience establishing a new function, practice, or team from inception and scaling it.
- Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience defining and defending business-impact measurement for a technical team.
- 10+ years of professional experience spanning GTM-adjacent technical work and hands-on building.
- 3+ years leading senior individual contributors, with evidence of development and retention.
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience building AI-powered tools, agents, or workflows.
- Track record of standing up a new team, practice, or function and scaling it past personal capacity.
- Executive-level communication and stakeholder management, including negotiating priorities with senior leaders.

Salary/Compensations
- For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $193,000 and $304,000/year, with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $241,000 and $345,000/year (including bonus or commission).
