About the Role

The Project Manager/ Project Manager II/ Sr. Project Manager - Power Grid Innovation will plan, develop, and manage interventions and strategies to overcome market barriers, encourage private capital investment, and accelerate the adoption of grid enhancing technologies. This role supports the NYSERDA Power Grid Innovation R&D team, which invests in power grid innovation including feasibility assessments, applied research studies, product development, and pilots and demonstrations.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement high-impact interventions that leverage financing opportunities for grid modernization efforts.
Identify market barriers and opportunities through analysis, research, and industry engagement.
Work closely with the department of public service and utilities on grid flexibility interventions.
Manage initiative implementation, monitor performance, and provide recommendations to optimize interventions.
Oversee consultants and contractors, including writing statements of work, issuing contracts, budgeting, and invoicing.
Oversee formal reporting of program performance and accounting of corporate metrics.
Prepare reports on technology development to inform public officials about technological advancements.
Represent NYSERDA at meetings and events with external stakeholders.
Contribute to a team culture of openness and collaboration.
Actively manage technical projects, contractors, and budgets with a focus on commercialization/adoption.
Research, track, and analyze policies at state, regional, federal, and global levels relevant to transmission and distribution system planning and operations.
Apply understanding of enabling technologies to program implementation strategies.
Identify opportunities to improve program creation and delivery by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Develop solicitations offering public funding for smart grid technologies and related practices.
Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Must have demonstrated experience in the electric grid sector.
Bachelor's degree and 5 years' experience of relevant experience in the electricity sector or a related field (Project Manager).
Bachelor's degree and 6 years' relevant experience in the electricity sector or a related field (Project Manager II).
Bachelor's degree and 7 years' relevant experience in the electricity sector or a related field (Sr. Project Manager).
Experience with new technology development and/or implementation.
Proficiency with MS Office packages.
Knowledge of Salesforce, Tableau, Asana.
