About the Role

New York Edge is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Director to assist in the overall administration of the After-School Program. This role involves implementing enrichment activities, scheduling, staff supervision, record keeping, parent communication, and organizing special events. The Assistant Director will cover the site in the absence of the After-School Program Director.

Responsibilities

Assist in the overall administration of the New York Edge After-School Program.
Implement enrichment activities and theme-based projects.
Schedule activities and provide daily supervision of staff.
Manage record keeping and reporting.
Communicate with parents.
Organize special events.
Cover the site in the absence of the After-School Program Director.
Directly responsible for the overall supervision of academic counselors and an academic component of the after-school program.
Prepare alternative activities to implement during homework sessions that complement the academic session.
Provide a seamless day that aligns homework sessions with day school standards of learning.
Lead trips off-site and supervise students and staff for the duration of the entire outing.
Encourage and lead projects that foster academic, cultural, and artistic growth.
Provide coverage for activity specialists.
Promote teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship.
Take ultimate responsibility for youth behavior at the site and on trips.
Communicate the program’s challenges, progress, and success with After-School Program Director.
Ensure the Afterschool program is compliant with all DYCD, DOE, and DOHMH regulations and timelines.
Stay abreast of all local, state, and federal pandemic management conditions and requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Report to the school building and interact with the Program Director, Staff, School Administration, Parents, and Students.

Requirements

Able to work late afternoons and/or evenings.
Knowledgeable and skilled in Academics, Sports, or Arts programs.
Prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth in Academics, Sports, or Arts.
Knowledge of the New York City Department of Education.
Must report to the school building and interact with the Program Director, Staff, School Administration, Parents, and Students.
