About the Role
The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter is seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our Day Habilitation Programs. In this role, you will act as a role model, demonstrating respect, dignity, and consumer rights. You will assist in implementing the person's LIFEPlan/Day Habilitation Plan by providing direct care, training, and supervision, utilizing community-based resources.
Responsibilities
- Actively work with individuals to promote choices and preferences.
- Assist in providing meaningful community experiences for individuals.
- Provide transportation for community outings using agency vehicles.
- Provide necessary assistance with activities of daily living, including toileting, eating, ambulation, and lifting.
- Recognize and promptly report positive/negative responses to activities, physical symptoms, and other concerns.
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly program area, including restocking supplies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. with one year of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities in an educational or healthcare setting.
- NYS Dept. of Health licensure as a Certified Nurses Aide (CNA), or comparable training/experience may waive the high school diploma/G.E.D. requirement.
- Valid NYS Driver's License.
