About the Role

The HR Generalist will provide overall support to the human resources department, managing daily responsibilities including recruitment, on-boarding, database management, file audits, and record keeping. This role serves as a liaison for employees and management, requiring strong organizational, interpersonal, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants.
  • Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Works closely with the Associate Director of Human Resources & Compliance on background checks, clearances, and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and on-boarding programs.
  • Performs routine tasks to administer and execute human resource programs including talent management, productivity, recognition, morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex matters to appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as directed.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
  • Reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Performs personnel file maintenance, audit, and files documents appropriately.
  • Assists employees with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Handles administrative tasks for onboarding, new-hire orientations, and exit interviews, including data entry in HRIS and audits.
  • Assists with the management, organization, and collection of annual employee performance reviews.
  • Responds to all verifications of employment and third-party requests in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates, schedules interviews, meetings, and maintains the department calendar.
  • Prepares, coordinates, and disseminates all HR-related materials and handouts.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and attends local hiring recruitment events.
  • Responds to all communications including telephone, email, and other inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Creates, maintains, and organizes personnel records (physical and electronic) in accordance with employment law requirements.
  • Provides support for employee terminations, including scheduling exit interviews and creating termination letters.
  • Compiles and prepares reports from the HRIS and other HR databases.
  • Attends trainings and stays up-to-date with current HR trends and best practices.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required or High School diploma and a minimum of eight years of experience in human resources.
  • Minimum of two years’ of human resource management experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 3 years plus, of experience and knowledge of Human Resources Information Software, such as; ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, Kronos etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal, State and City employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional excellence and employee rapport.
  • Proficiency in basic computer usage, i.e., Windows, Microsoft Suite, Google Apps (drive, sheets, docs) etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively conduct and complete work independently.
  • Willing to take initiative and be flexible when needed.
  • Excels working in a collaborative environment to achieve target objects and outcomes.
  • Requires a reliable mode of transportation.
