About the Role

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the development, performance, and management of clinical patient care for nursing, medical assistants, and technicians. The Sr. Nurse Manager will work as part of a triad leadership team to make decisions that best support clinical staff, extended care team members, and providers, ensuring patients receive timely, effective, efficient, and safe care. The role involves population health management through data analysis and workflow improvement to enhance patient care quality and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, the Sr. Nurse Manager provides oversight for staff education, onboarding, and training. The role may involve working onsite at a primary or multiple locations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the patient’s care team, including primary care, specialists, home care, and hospital teams, to optimize clinical outcomes.
  • Performs regular analysis of population health data to improve clinical care workflows, enhancing patient care quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Participates as an effective member of the site Triad management team, ensuring the clinical services team supports operational and fiscal activities, including staffing, budgets, productivity, and quality goals.
  • Manages the clinical support team, implementing and overseeing clinical care delivered by licensed nursing staff, medical assistants, technicians, and students.
  • Establishes work assignment priorities for clinical areas, including licensed nursing staff and Medical Assistants.
  • Oversees health center equipment needs, examination rooms, infection control standards, CLIA and Radiology regulations, compliance with Standing Delegation Orders, and emergency protocols.
  • Monitors compliance with standards of care for on-site treatments, procedures, medication administration, and timely, quality clinical workflows.
  • Enhances the patient experience by addressing and resolving patient issues promptly.
  • Ensures daily patient care (unit) huddles are conducted.
  • Responsible for interviewing/selecting candidates, approving payroll, time off requests, administering performance evaluations, training, and orientation of new hires, and for coaching and counseling staff.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by developing par levels, studying usage reports, identifying trends, anticipating needed supplies, and approving requisitions and cost allocations.
  • Completes daily/weekly quality assurance checklists, including delegation of tasks as appropriate.
  • Ensures all patient care tasks and related duties comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards, and Central Health Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensures all applicable vaccine policies are followed.
  • May support Provider teams by assisting with in-basket management, refilling medications, rooming, dismissing, and triaging patients to enhance patient experience and avoid delays in care.
  • Adheres to the Texas Board of Nursing and Texas Nurse Practice Act requirements and other governing agency regulations.
  • Assists in the development of departmental protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement projects to better serve patients, families, and the healthcare system.
  • Maintains awareness of key performance indicators/metrics and coordinates interventions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Coordinates and attends staff meetings and education offerings.
  • Supports organizational initiatives to promote and maintain a strong positive workplace culture.
  • Serves on committees as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Three years nursing clinical leadership experience in an ambulatory clinic and/or hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Joint Commission standards, HIPAA regulations, and the Quad Quadruple Aim.
  • Five years of management/leadership experience preferably in an ambulatory clinic setting with Specialty services.
  • Background in managing populations with complex medical needs.
  • Knowledge leading teams with clinical quality improvement, clinical workflow development, patient care coordination, preventative health, and nursing triage.
  • Experience with Epic.
  • Unrestricted Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained through the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
