About the Role

The Community Engagement Fellow will support community outreach, engagement, and communications for the San Francisco Economic Justice Center (EJC), focusing on initiatives like StopScams SF and Kindergarten to College (K2C). This role involves planning outreach events, developing community-facing materials, and building relationships with community partners, schools, and residents.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of tabling, presentations, workshops, and community listening sessions.
  • Represent EJC at community events and public forums.
  • Assist with staffing StopScams SF community listening sessions and K2C school-based events, including some evening and weekend outreach.
  • Support development and distribution of outreach materials (flyers, social media content, newsletters, presentations, website content).
  • Help collect, organize, and incorporate community testimonials, stories, and feedback.
  • Support tracking of emerging scam trends for community-facing communications and alerts.
  • Assist with data entry, tracking outreach metrics, and maintaining partner and contact lists.
  • Support scheduling, meeting notes, and logistics for outreach events and community listening sessions.
  • Provide general administrative and project support to the Community Engagement Specialist and EJC team.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in, or has completed, coursework toward a degree (undergraduate or graduate) from an accredited college or university in public policy, communications, social work, education, ethnic studies, economics, or a related field; OR Equivalent experience conducting community outreach, engagement, or organizing work may substitute for the above on a year-for-year basis.
  • Availability to work up to 20 hours per week, including some evening and weekend outreach events.
