About the Role
This role is an opportunity to join our global Knowledge and Training (K&T) function as a Knowledge Lawyer supporting our global fintech practice, with a focus on regulatory developments in the UK and EU. The K&T function drives quality, consistency, efficiency, and innovation across Clifford Chance, producing better-trained fee earners, supported by gold-standard knowledge resources.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze fintech legal and regulatory developments to update lawyers and clients on their impact, with a focus on UK and EU developments.
- Respond to fintech and digital assets regulatory queries from lawyers and teams across the firm's network.
- Provide ad hoc fintech input into wider internal knowledge resources.
- Supervise and provide strategic input into internal and client-facing fintech resources.
- Identify opportunities to improve the capture, organization and sharing of fintech knowhow across the firm.
- Encourage and engage with fee earners to share and submit knowhow to the firm's knowledge database.
- Prepare and support client briefings, blog posts, webinars, and other client-facing materials on market trends and regulatory developments.
- Lead or contribute to thought leadership publications on key fintech topics.
- Draft, coordinate, and contribute to consultation responses and policy submissions on fintech and digital assets regulation.
- Participate in relevant working groups of trade associations, external committees, and Knowledge Lawyer community discussions.
- Work alongside business development leads and key partners on fintech business planning.
- Review and contribute to fintech capability statements, marketing materials, and strategic client panels.
- Prepare bespoke materials to support targeted client outreach and client-facing training.
- Prepare and deliver regular internal training on key fintech developments.
- Coordinate, support, and/or deliver internal global fintech training.
- Support client and internal training initiatives by identifying relevant themes and preparing materials.
- Support the development, adoption, and effective use of legal technology tools, including AI tools.
- Support the responsible use of the firm's legal technology tools.
- Participate in regular fintech, finance cluster Product Group, and wider K&T coordination calls.
- Support coordination across the Tech Group knowledge team.
- Contribute to Tech Group delivery calls with marketing, PR, business development, and other stakeholders.
- Provide strategic knowledge input into Clifford Chance-hosted and external fintech events.
- Attend strategic external events for networking and knowledge-building purposes.
- Review and contribute to ranking submissions, award submissions, and related profile-raising materials.
- Liaise with PR and communications teams on key fintech topics for media outreach.
- Help ensure that client-facing fintech content on the firm’s website remains current, accurate, and aligned with legal and market developments.
Requirements
- Senior level lawyer or existing Knowledge Lawyer/professional support lawyer (PSL) with fintech and digital assets regulatory expertise.
- Strong track record of keeping abreast of legal developments in this fast-evolving space.
- An interest in knowledge management and legal training is critical.
- Excellent academic background.
- Strong research and drafting skills.
- Good attention to detail and robust organizational skills.
- Proactive and committed to providing a first-class service to fee earners and clients.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication and analytical skills.
- High level of commercial awareness.
- Ability to engage effectively with key stakeholders, including partners, clients, and industry leaders.
