About the Role
Premier Health Partners, PC, a partner of Erie County Medical Center (ECMC), seeks a skilled Medical Assistant to join their ambulatory team. This role involves providing high-quality patient care, supporting medical staff, and performing Patient Services Representative duties. The ideal candidate has a passion for helping others and possesses the necessary medical knowledge and skills.
Responsibilities
- Room patients, take vital signs, record medical histories, and note the reason for visits.
- Greet and check in patients, verify demographics, check insurance eligibility, and process payments.
- Answer and direct phone calls, addressing patient inquiries and redirecting urgent clinical needs.
- Perform routine lab tests and collect/label laboratory specimens.
- Schedule and manage patient appointments, including new, follow-up, rescheduling, and cancellations.
- Maintain accurate patient records in the EMR system and manage paper files.
- Assist with locating charts, pulling charts, printing information from EMR, and acquiring reports from outside facilities.
- Obtain patient insurance information, demographics, and prior authorizations for testing.
- Ensure patient rooms are clean, stock medical supplies, and manage inventory.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in staff development and meetings.
- Provide excellent customer service with professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalency
- Proficient in performing clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, updating patient chart information and recording other medical data
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and other healthcare technology
- Critical thinking, time management, strong communication, problem-solving, and ability to handle various clinical situations.
