About the Role
Prepares and serves meals and snacks for children, plans menus, orders food, and maintains kitchen sanitation and nutritional standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and serves breakfast, hot lunches, and snacks.
- Plans weekly menus and calculates food orders.
- Implements proper food preparation and thawing procedures.
- Organizes and cleans the kitchen according to health and sanitation standards.
- Upholds HACCP systems.
- Maintains nutritional requirements as identified by CCFP/FDA program.
- Prepares meals according to planned menus for all meals and snacks on time, at the appropriate temperature.
- Records the distribution of proper food measurements daily to comply with local and state (FDA, Food and Nutrition-CACFP) requirements and control all controllable costs with minimal to zero waste.
- Cleans and maintains the kitchen area in a sanitary, safe, and organized manner as required by the company and health and sanitation standards (FIFO, time and temperature, date and labels, etc).
- Ensures all thermometers are working properly.
- Ensures all food items are checked for expiration dates.
- Washes and sanitizes all dishes.
- Cleans the entire kitchen and appliances throughout the day (according to daily and weekly cleaning lists).
- Removes trash and recyclables daily.
- Checks order and invoice accuracy and puts away all food and non-food orders.
- Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with Grow With Us Learning Academy policies and guidelines.
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions.
- Supports and follows the values and mission statement of Grow With Us Learning Academy’s.
- Participates in the development of outcomes, monitors assessment of those appropriate outcomes, and assists in the development of plans of action for improvement based on the assessment of those outcomes.
- Protects the privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to families, children, team members, administration, and the company.
- Builds positive relationships and communicates in a respectful manner with families, children, team members, administration, Corporate Leadership, and vendors in the community served.
- Attends the workplace regularly as per the defined work schedule and reports to work punctually.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Background verification check mandatory.
- Wear hairnet or hat while in kitchen.
- Work 40 plus hours a week.
- Be able to lift 40 lbs without assistance.
- Able to read and adhere to recipes and menus.
